Q. What’s the difference between templates and backgrounds?
A. Templates are “pre-made” presentation shells. When you apply a template to your presentation, the Title Master and Slide Master (text slide or secondary slide) are already available for you to insert text. The typeface and font color and size are already set.

Backgrounds are just the .jpg images that are seperate from templates. Users who want to use just the backgrounds should feel comfortable formatting and designing their presentations from scratch, including:
• Creating title and slide master pages
• Choosing proper placement and size of text
• Selecting the proper typefaces and styles for Headings, Subheads, and Body copy
• Creating their own custom color palettes, custom bullets, etc.
